Field Report - Christy at Alex's - September 16, 2000 (Day 4)

First a message to Dave LaRue from Christy: She says Hi of course, and she says she wants to see the Frank Llyod Wright house you talked about when she get to your area.
(See Christy, I did remember this time!)

Part 4 of my Christy Canyon Experience (TM).
I went down to Alex’s for the 5 PM show on Saturday, Christy’s last day of shows here in the Boston area.    I stopped by the RV (I’ve been calling it a trailer, but it is an RV) and said hello to Christy and Joe.  We talked for a few minutes and then it was showtime.  I followed them into the club and found a seat.   The crowd was small, but all the pit seats were taken.  I did my part in making sure there was clapping and yelling when Christy was introduced.  As I mentioned yesterday, Christy had noticed that I was usually the first to tip her at most shows.  I decided I would continue that streak for the last day.  Every time I went to the stage, Christy had something to say, sometimes silly, sometimes witty, but always something just between the 2 of us ... and always that terrific smile of hers.   After the show she did the Polaroid’s, I bought the 2 Cappy-produced CD’s, and we were off to the movies.

Donna had called me to let me know that she would be meeting us at the theater.  We arrived early and chilled out waiting for Donna.  As we were getting our tickets Donna arrived and we proceeded downstairs to the movie.  Christy got her large popcorn, no butter and we all went in. We saw ‘The Watcher’ and it was fun but not as good as ‘Almost Famous’ from yesterday.

After the movie it was back to Alex's for the 9:30 PM show.  There was plenty of time before the show so we all just hung out and talked.  KC showed up and joined us.   When showtime approached, Donna had to go so we said good-bye.  KC and I headed into the club and were seated up in the back, as the pit was full again.   Christy was announced and did a great show as always.  Yes, I was the first to tip her and KC was the last.  We noticed John in another row and got together after Christy was done.  John was supposed to be there on Friday night, but all his plans went astray.  We were going to get some pictures, but Christy wanted to get something to eat so we got them later.

Christy, Joe, John, KC, and I went over to Appleby's for dinner and it was a good thing we had 2 hours until the next show.  At first we thought the service was slow, as Christy’s soup did not show up for 20 minutes after we ordered.  The meals were delayed even longer.  It turns out they had a new cook on his first night so it was sloooow going.  It did give us all a chance to get to know each other better talk about all kinds of things.  Despite the slow service we did enjoy the time together.

Then it was back to Alex's for the last show of the evening.  There was till plenty of time before the show, so I brought in a Penthouse issue that Christy had not seen in many years.  It was the one with Miss America and you-know-who-that-we cant-say as the centerfold.  Christy commented that they were all really fooled by her and they really believed that she was as old as she said she was.  I also brought in about 6 other magazines with featured Christy.  She happily signed the ones that were not already signed and got a kick out of seeing miss-you- know-who.  As time for the last show approached KC said his good-byes. John and I went around front and re-entered the club for Christy’s last show at Alex’s for this run.  The pit was full again, so it was three strikes for me today trying to get closer to the stage.

Now it was Christy's last show for the night.  It is always sad to see the last show because I don’t know when I might see another.  2000 has been a very good year for me to see Christy many times.  Christy was announced and she was back on stage again.  After letting her do her thing for a few minutes, I went stage front to tip her as usual.  I was first again and even the DJ made a comment.  He said "This guy has been here all week.  He must be the president of the Christy Canyon fan club."  Christy yelled back: "I’m the president of the fan club!"  As I placed the money in the garter, Christy and I just laughed, as we have done this so many times over the last few days.  The crowd was quiet but they were generous.  Each time I went up to tip Christy,  she and I laughed again.   I always mention her killer smile, and she still had it even though she was tired.

Soon the last song was over and the last tip was collected.  One last time for pictures in the back hall.  Both John and I had to have some more pictures, and BobinNH will be proud to know that I got 7 pictures to close out the night.  Christy and I and Joe came up with some imaginative  poses, including one which Christy says is very rare, just because it is potentially dangerous.  Needless to say, I wasn’t going to let that happen and held onto her tight.

When all was finished, John and I joined Christy back out in the RV. She finished packing up her clothes and merchandise and we put the suitcases in my car.  She said her good-byes to John, then it was the last trip back to the hotel.  The first night the club didn’t like that I was driving her home, but by now they didn’t care anymore.  We stopped off for some coffee and I helped bring her stuff in.  Now it was my turn to say good-bye.  Christy thanked me once again for helping her out and just for being a friend and having fun.  I thanked her for letting me be just a small part of her life, having great fun, good conversation, and just getting to know each other a little better.  Then it was a great big long bear hug and a kiss good-bye.

It is 4 AM as I finish this and Christy and Joe leave the hotel at 4:30..... maybe there will be a part 5  ..... Christy did say it was OK to come back .......  (to be continued.)
