Subject: ASSC Lapping Ebonics; a primer
From: SICK66

With all the recent talk about Ebonics, a few questions have been raised
here in ASS-C, most notable is the question of how one would ask an
ebonite for a lap. This has prompted the research into practical lapping
Ebonics and resulted in a basic English to Ebonics protocol for
requesting a lap. As follows:

customer: Say baby, slide me some rump on the hindside, dig?
trans(I'd like a lap, are you available)
Dancer: Twenty dollar to the beat go
trans(sure, laps are twenty dollars a song)
customer: I be down wit what it come to. Where them skills do?
trans(that sounds reasonable. Show me to the booth)

This of course is merely a basic functional adaptation to one confined
situation. The need for further research will be necessary to further the
cause of Lapping Ebonics in order to extend the multicultural SC
experience. Grants have been applied for and research continues. Please
support Lapping Ebonics and send your contribution today. Thank You.
